My time at North Bridge Senior School was a fun and memorable for the fact that I never imagined myself in a classroom let alone with Year 9 & Year 10 students leading a class but there’s a first for everything.

So my role was essentially giving the students an insight in the art world and my own experience and story hoping to inspire them to create their own art style based on my “7.8.9.” Idea. First lesson with a brief presentation of myself, my story, my experience in art, and the objective for them for the “7.8.9” workshops. Throughout the summer term, I watched each student blossom at their own pace and responding well to the workshops as they had own ideas. At times, I would pause during the middle of the lesson to give a practical demonstration to the whole class or individually.

As I reached the end of my Artist in Residency for the term, I had a chance to reflect and get some feedback from the students of what they would like to see going forward.

Some students were asking if I would come back September, if I could do it twice a week instead once a week. You wish you had all the answers but sadly that’s not possible so I could I’d be honest and encourage them going forward. I have no doubt they will keep going and try their best in whatever they want to do. I’m rooting for you!!

So I will end this by saying thank you to Trent for being a massive mentor to me and teaching lots of qualities how to be in a professional environment. Also thank you to the entire staff, and headteacher for making feel welcome you are massive credit to the school.
