About the Project

IMAGINATION KNOWS NO BOUNDS

Elias began as something deeply intimate — a book crafted as a unique gift for one child, designed to offer an escape during the unusual, unsettling isolation of the pandemic years.

Through carefully considered illustrations and thoughtful storytelling, the book was built to transport its young reader somewhere else entirely. Somewhere where the rules of the ordinary world don't apply, and where a child's imagination is the most powerful thing in the room.

What started as a personal project quickly became something with wider resonance. The ideas and images within Elias have the power to take any child on the journey — not just the one it was made for. That universality was never entirely planned; it emerged from the honesty of the work itself.

The Project in Three Parts

The Illustrations

Each spread was designed as a world unto itself — detailed, immersive, and full of the kind of hidden detail that rewards a second look. The visual language draws from classic illustrated books while remaining distinctly contemporary.

The Storytelling

Elias follows a child navigating a fantastical world that runs parallel to his own. The narrative is gentle but purposeful — designed to spark conversation, curiosity, and the kind of questions that good stories leave behind.

The Publication Design

Every element — typography, layout, pacing, colour — was designed as part of a unified whole. Elias is as much a designed object as it is a story: something to be held, touched, and returned to.
